other side of the microphone
Dec 19, 2008
Tune in here to hear my debut on the other side of the microphone! My day job is reporting for KQED radio here in San Francisco. Well, yesterday I switched sides from reporter to interviewee as a guest on Forum’s show on holiday DIY projects, hosted by Scott Shafer. I was honored to be in the company of some uber-crafters: Derek Fagerstrom of ReadyMade magazine; Phil Torrone of Make magazine; and Chelsea Fadda of Rock Paper Scissors Collective in Oakland.
It was a blast! Tune in for some great DIY ideas that you still have time to pull off before the holidays. And for those of you who are interested in some of the projects I talked about, here’s the short list – click for photos and instructions:
Fingerless gloves will be posted as soon as I finish stitching them!
And one the Jimi contest front, Gail won yesterday, and Diane is the final winner of the week. Thanks to everyone for your Jimi love. If you want to keep supporting my hubby, he's offering 20% off all orders through the end of the year. Check out the goods here and enter "MGG" at checkout.

hey kelly, it was really cool to listen to that forum show :)
i got to listen to it yesterday and it was so much fun - i'm all about making crafts all year round...so through the show thats how i found your blog, i added it to a long list of others to read on my google reader...
Hi Kelly,
Your blog is awesome! I think I got here from clicking a link on Sew Mama Sew. I love the pictures and the conversational tone to your writing. (Well, I suppose that's the point since it is a blog) Anyway, it must be very cool to work for NPR. Sounds like you had a totally fun childhood as well. I am looking forward to checking back here again soon to see what else you've cooked up.

i listened to the Forum episode and that is how i found you here! great show! i was listening to it on my way to school with the anticipation of making candles the following night. the lady who called in and thought the beeswax candles would be super simple to make cracked me up! there are SO many things that could go wrong if you don't know what you're doing. i wanted to call in, but i don't like doing so while driving. great site, too. i'll be bookmarking it to find things to keep these idle hands busy this winter. and spring... and summer... fall... you get the point. :-)
