hair gravy

Shampoo.jpgPer Amy Karol's ringing endorsement of washing her hair with baking soda and apple cider vinegar, I decided to try it. The first day, my hair felt lovely and clean and smelled faintly like I had been swimming in sweet seawater. But it was downhill from there. Ever since, it's felt kind of coated and heavy. But I perservered because it says here that could be par for the course as your hair adjusts.

Unless of course you're me and you've been washing your hair with baking powder instead of baking soda. Yes folks, baking powder. The first ingredient of which is cornstarch. So I've basically been making a kind of roux, slathering it onto my head and expecting it to give me that clean, swish-swishy hair I see on so many women on the bus.

I'm surprised birds haven't started roosting up there. I realized my mistake this morning but it was too late to re-wash and not be totally late for work, so I'll report back when I'm actually doing the whole thing correctly.
