elementary inspiration

Even just a few days of rain and fog does something to reset my gardening desire. There’s something about not being able to go out there and get your hands dirty that makes me want it even more. So it was a perfect weekend to take the pooch to the schoolyard across the street and gaze upon the gardening mural. There’s even a cheery little verse supporting my next hobby: beekeeping. More on that later. But the big, splashy, happy wall was enough inspiration to make me come home, pull some kale out of the wet ground, and fix up some winter pesto. Just whirl the chopped kale with garlic, toasted walnuts and olive oil. Mix with ricotta, slather over hot noodles and you too can enjoy fresh, bright pesto in the cold and damp winter.

Those fence palings are fantastic. A great colour scheme to brighten a garden. Suddenly I want to paint my fences.
