big week here at mgg

Hello gang, this is the start of what feels like an awfully great week here at Make Grow Gather. Not only do I have the incredibly talented, quirky, creative Heather Ross here (below), but we're doing a little musical chairs and I'm posting over at Design Mom all week. I'm so glad to be there as Gabrielle's first Guest Aunt. Design Mom is an incredibly inspired, lovely, creative place -- I'm so glad to be part of the family for the week!

I didn't experience fireflies until I was about 35 years old. When I did it was like a scene a special effects artist would create. It was early evening in a meadow in Western Massachusetts. There was a low fog hovering just above the ground, the air was cool and it was very stilly. Then they appeared, and disappeared and appeared again. I really wasn't sure this was reality. I thought maybe I was having some kind of neurological incident. And then I thought about my Grandmother in Ireland who told me about fairies when I was a small child, and wished she were there. Sometimes you need to see a firefly even if it's a smoke detector. Great story. I love your drawing style Heather. Do you ever just do drawings?

Loved your posts over at Design Mom, Kelly! And my guess is you weren't just "guest aunt" for a week...once you're in the family, you're in! And I'm glad to see your growth into these new places. Wonderful to witness.
