willy wonka's pincushion

In a crush of deadlines this week, along came Thursday’s mail, and this lovely little pick-me-up that I ordered for myself.

It's a pincushion ring! See how excitedly I ripped the package open?

Whenever I remove pins while sewing, I put them either pursed between my lips or strewn across the dining room table. No matter where I place my trusty tomato pin cushion, it never seems to be in the right place.

So we’ll see how this new ring works. But even if I just use it as jewelry, I’ll be plenty happy. It’s super cheery and looks like some kind of candy cinnamon bun dreamt up by Willy Wonka. Check out all the snappy color combos right here.

And I think the orange fabric might be a Heather Ross print? If so, that’s spooky because I’m saving my pennies to sew with Heather this summer in Vermont, and I will wear this very ring as my machine happily chugs along in the sewing barn.

Oh, thank you for such a perky write up on my rings...love the picture of the torn packaging...it's always a bit mysterious to send my little creations away - so it's good to see it again!

Yes, it is Heather Ross fabric (my favorite) !!

Best Wishes,

Hi Kelly, I think I'll treat myself and my best girlfriend to one of these nifty rings. I wore a tiny ridge in my front tooth because I kept putting pins in my mouth! I broke the habit before I had hillbilly teeth.

cute! some day, I'm going to swallow a pin...because I always stick them in my mouth...a habit that goes back to teenage years. But, this is a perfect solution...and so sweet!

I'm going to be sewing with Heather Ross, too! I look forward to meeting you.
