a few more vermont-y details

Yes, about that rhubarb juice. My Vermont sister uncovered the recipe right here. We decided that next time around, we might cut down on the sugar. But it was pretty delicious, and I'm pretty sure that the flavor was enhanced by that amazing ballerina pink color. Let me tell you, the juice also mades a damn fine summertime cocktail with vodka, a splash of club soda and a squeeze of lime.  Enjoy out of doors, with bare feet.

While I'm on the topic of things my sister makes, here's what she stitched up for our niece's third birthday.

She used a pattern that she found here. She made it kind of patchwork style, which I love, and also swapped out the PVC pipes for branches for the supports. It was waiting in the yard when we all pulled up, and it became a favorite place for big and little alike while we were all together for a week.

And the hits keep on coming. Here's what she made for our nephew's first birthday.

A handmade sandbox, tucked into the woods so it felt like an enchanted hideout. With fallen, moss-covered trees as the frame. It looks a little lonely now in this photo. While the whole family was here, we had too much fun making sand birthday cakes with flowers for candles to stop and take photos.

I love this pattern-- and made 2 tents already (one for my daughter and one for a friend's son)-- we also didn't use the pvc poles and swapped in wooden sticks (bamboo). But, the tent keeps slipping down. How did yours keep from falling down- what did you do at top to keep it up? Thanks so much

I love this teepee, my daugter's whole room is in that stripe with green and that yellow green.
What a wonderful birthday for a little one. My three year old would be tickled with that for her birthday!

I found you're blog through Amy Karol's.

Hi ljmonchk -- I wanted to get back with the deets about the teepee poles. I asked my sister and she says the tent doesn't slip at all. She thinks this could be because she used tree branches with bark that gives the material some traction, and she pulled it pretty taught. Her hunch is that bamboo poles could be pretty slippery. My other thought is you could attach something to the poles that would hook into the fabric, like a grommet or even a little loop that you could tack onto each panel of fabric and slip over thumb tacks on the bamboo?

Hope this helps, if you solve the problem, please report back! xoKelly

Every body acknowledges that modern life seems to be very expensive, nevertheless we require money for various things and not every man earns big sums money. Thus to receive good business loans and financial loan should be a right way out.
