something to do this weekend

If you can find a drive-in anywhere close to you, get there. My sister is lucky enough to live close to one, and she and her husband have it down: they put down the back seats of their Subaru, lay a futon down, and bring pillows, warm socks and blankets to take in a movie under the stars, cozy-style.

The concession stand cooks burgers to order with local meat and cheese, and we brewed up a rasberry-lemony-minty cocktail to enjoy before the movie started.

We've caught two movies since we've been here. For our first one, my sister and her husband were big-hearted enough to give us their car setup. It was my husband's very first drive-in, and the experience lived up to the anticipation. The best part was that when it was all over, my sister drove us home while we were still snuggled up in the back. The windows were down, it was just starting to rain very softy, and we felt like kids, all taken care of and without a care in the world.
