floaty embellished tee

This is a gauzy, haphazard embellishment that will likely make true seamstresses cringe. But sometimes you need a down-and-dirty 30 minute project to flounce up a shirt that is otherwise so very grey.

Follow along with instructions and photos right here.

So lovely, like a wispy little cloud.

Looks great! I've looked at my plain tops so often and tried putting bits of ribbon and buttons and all sorts on and it's really hard to make it actually look good; I think the sewing prowess is less important than a good idea.

Lovely blog by the way! Finally de-lurking to comment after a few months following you.

This is one of my favorites of your sewing projects! Very feminine... great way to spiffy up a simple T-shirt... very classy that the "gauzy, haphazard embellishment" is only on one side. Great way to give a second life to a tired T. genius.

Can I just say that I think it was brilliant to pin that together while ON you? That way you get just the look you're going for. Love that. Thanks for sharing:)

Wow guys, thanks for all the lovely feedback!

And Katie, I'm glad you liked that little trick. I did wonder if it looked crazy in the photos, but pinning while it's on is the only way to get a sense of what it will look like. Trust me, I've learned the hard way. Just be careful with those pins! -kelly
