write it up

I’m still trying to make good on my intention of sending more real mail. And I find that one key to making that happen is having stationery on hand that perks me up every time I pull it out to dash off a few thoughts.

Notecards in a happy, saturated color and an initial stamp does the trick for me. Plus, you get a little surge of satisfaction every time you make your custom cards. I got my stamp and paper at Paper Source, and I went with the kraft color envelope because pink-on-pink was a wee too matchy-matchy for me.

Now get out there and write someone so you can feel in your soul what Lord Byron described: "Letter writing is the only device for combining solitude with good company."

I love personalized stationary and sending and receiving mail. In a bid to share this love and receive more mail this year I had a stamp made for my boyfriends sister with her name on it and a box of blank stationary to go along with it. Really easy and inexpensive.

My mom got me some blank cards with my first initial on them as a thank you gift, they came with these great envelops that have mismatched patterns on the inside and the outside. I was amazed at how fancy I felt when I wrote a thank you note on one of them last week! They certainly inspired me to send a real thank you instead of an email. Once they are all gone, I think I will try your idea and make my own.

I have a similar goal with more happy snail mail and one thing that has helped lately is the lovely new abstract expressionist stamp set offered by none other than the amazing USPS! The ginormous Jackson Pollock is especially cool!

I mused about recently on my blog too.

Best!

I have always loved paper and stationery and mail (sending and receiving). I collect stationery and still have pieces of sets I owned in elementary school. And now I'm making it -- out of vintage maps. The sets are for sale here: http://dote.etsy.com and a few retail locations.
