leafy keen

My monthly project for The Washington Post is up, and seeing these placemats gives me a little burst of happiness every time I put them on the table. This is an easy-peasy technique from kindergarten art class, but using an unexpectedly bright color or an oversized leaf makes the project fresh and modern. Step-by-step instructions right here.

I remember finger painting as favourite thing in K...this looks just as fun...great idea to use the over-sized leaves.

I found you through the SS examples page. I just started a SS website...still a work in progress, but I'm loving it so far. Like you, I also have a shop on etsy.

Thanks for this idea. Its so simple but can create a very dramatic finished product.

you know, i've been eyeing some huge, round and graphically interesting nasturtium leaves in my yard, thinking they would be great as fabric prints or rubbings. consider me now motivated!

I really love these, what a great but simple idea. I love having homemade stuff around which makes me smile!
