summer giveaway: crosley turntable

This week’s giveaway takes me back to summers in Virginia, where we would lay out back on plastic lounge chairs, listening to Whitney Houston albums, slathered in baby oil (sorry, skin). We turned the speakers to face out our screened doors, and when the record was over, we fought over who had to go inside and turn it over.

Enter Crosley’s USB Turntable. It plays vinyl, but also converts records into CDs.

I have dueling images scrolling through my head: the grown-up in me imagines a serene walled garden with records offering a soundtrack for a long summer lunch that stretches into evening, fueled by pitchers of Pimm’s Cup and iced tea.

But my inner teenage still wants to dust off my sister’s DeBarge records, so we can all lay out together with lemons squeezed into our hair.

Either way, this sweet record player will liven up the rest of your outdoor summer. Leave a comment by midnight PST on Friday to be entered, along with a way to reach you. US residents only. Good luck!

Congrats #74, Kathleen! And as a card-carrying Luddite, I LOVE all the record love that's been displayed here!

It just so happens... my favorite artist recently came out with four new songs. And they are on a record. ONLY on a record. As in, I can't listen without a record player. This got me to thinking that a good old turntable would be a nice addition to my life. I can picture spinning tunes at a backyard party under twinkling lights... barefoot on the patio.

I was just thinking that I wanted to start a record collection...

This is awesome! I've been helping my parents clean out their basement and I found a bunch of the records I used to play when I was younger as well as my dad's entire collection. I'd love to be able to play them again and to convert them to CDs for my brother and sister too.

I have a record collection but no record player. This looks awesome!

Oh EXCELLENT. The only ones I've seen plugged into a computer, I love that this one makes cds!

I had to leave the record player and vinyl with my parents when we moved cross-country, but this would be perfect. I'd love to be able to listen to some of my old faves again (and my parents would love if I cleaned out their garage...)

We were just explaining what a record is to our 6 year old.

I would so love to win this giveaway. My parents have an incredible collection of vinyl, and I grew up with the quiet pops and sizzles constantly in the background of my favorite recordings!

Hooray for vinyl! It's the only *real* way to listen to Billie, right!? You need the crackle!

Oh, I have had my eye on this model for quite some time. I hate that I can't listen to certain songs only found in my record collection while out and about and thought this would be a good solution. I also wanted to try to transfer my grandmothers records for her as well, so I have been saving for a USB player for a while. What a lovely giveaway to host!

The B-52's "Rock Lobster" playing on the record player, an Otter Pop in hand, and a middle school summer is reborn.

I love it! I have a whole stack of LPs and need something to play them on! This is an amazing giveaway!

This is fantastic...I am helpless to resist cool vinyl albums at garage sales, so I have quite a collection without anything to play them on. I've just always liked collecting the cover art--I would love to be able to listen to them as well!

Sweet player! Definitely keeping my fingers crossed on winning this one, though I might have to fight off my husband for a turn!

I dropped a candle on my turn table and it has been out of commission ever since. I would love this one! Such a great addition to a summer picnic! Thanks for the chance to win it!

This is great! It would be a real treat to listen to the music of my youth the way it sounded the first time I heard it. My fingers are crossed!

It just so happens I have a huge record collection that I've never been able to part with despite the lack of a record player or stereo. I look at it every day and think one of these days I'll plop down the funds and revisit the good and the bad times. It would be such a gift to win such a giveaway.

A mint julep, a summer evening, the right record, and this... my oh my!

I have awesome records but no turntable. Plus, I really, really want this record on my ipod that I can't buy as an MP3.

July 21, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJessie

I'll share all my old records with you if I get this turntable!
