summercraft: tomato cage lanterns, part II
Jul 22, 2010 As promised, I wanted to share another way to make a lantern out of an old tomato cage. This one results in a taut lantern, and while it takes a little longer than draping wet fabric over the frame, don’t let the sewing put you off: Passing a needle back and forth along the top and bottom goes quickly. And if your stitching isn't even, don't worry. Once you place a flickering light inside, all eyes will be on the lovely twilight glow.
Directions for this method are right over here in The Washington Post.

What a clever and pretty lantern!
I love the applique on this version -- really lovely looking.
I really love both versions!
Just beautiful and what a unique idea, I love it.
Thank you for sharing.
