prep-tastic cowl

The inspiration for this slouchy, happy little cowl came straight out of the bright, poppy world of Kate Spade and the Girls with Glasses party at Alt. Have you seen their trailer? Those girls are just so happy. And adorable.

I am usually not super-preppy, but I am headed to Palm Springs to meet up with Heather and feeling inspired to add more color to my wardrobe after witnessing all the bright and happy outfits at Alt.

I had the striped green fabric on hand and the leftover pink trim from my obsession with upholstery trim necklaces, and so before you could say chinos and turned up collars, I had this little number stitched up. Does it look too much like a lampshade to wear out in public?

Love it, rock it! I actually bought an orange scarf last year with the same felt-ball trim because it reminded me of the 50's-style throw pillows on the sofa in my grandparents' old summer cottage! lampshade, pillow, who cares :)
